Pal Cameron is no ordinary senior, underneath her fabulous style and undeniable charismatic charm, lays an energetically active senior, what Hello! Home Care likes to refer to as a Sensational Senior. Hello! Home Care defines a Sensational Senior as a senior who strives to engage in activities within their community. Their commitment to remain active serves as a shinning example of what Hello! Home Care believes to be the key to a long and healthy life. It has been proven that exercise, both physical and mental, has a major impact on our lifespan.
Pal’s weekly regiment consists of various activities that she has discovered through her church, senior club, recreational center and her friends. Pal exercises four days a week with an exercise class for seniors which has been good not only for her health, but a great way for her to cultivate friendships. Once a week she goes to the Village Green, located in Baldwin Hills, to meet with the Seniors Club. The Village Green hosts all types of activities ranging from tours to cruises. For Pal, the Village Green has been a wonderful travel companion, which has allowed her to visit places she normally would not have wanted to go alone. In the month of September, the Village Green Seniors Club went to see Iris a production of Cirque du Soleil that tours worldwide. The Village Green helps Pal stay connected to the community and in addition she also participates in church activities. Pal is an avid member of Holman United Methodist where she acts as a greeter on the first Sunday of each month. To add to her vast list of activities, once a month Pal plays bridge with a Bridge Club that she has belonged to for more than 50 years. Bridge requires a great deal of mental focus, which helps boost brain activity, and fight of the onset of dementia. Also bridge is played in pairs, which promotes socialization and helps to foster friendships.
The major deterrents for Pal when it comes to remaining active are the time activities are scheduled and if she has someone to go with. Pal believes it is easier to remain loyal to an activity when you have a friend there to provide mutual support. Also activities that tend to end or start after sunset, are least appealing for security reasons. Remaining active requires a sense of comfort and engaging in activities that are earlier in the day and with familiar faces ensures security. This Sensational Senior recommends finding out what’s happening in you community to stay active. Hello! Home Care commends Pal Cameron for her superb commitment to remaining active in her community.
